The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the deadline for the Dispute to Trust Scheme from December 31, 2024 to January 31, 2025. This extension gives taxpayers additional time to resolve their tax disputes at lower rates. The scheme came into effect from October 1, 2024, enabling taxpayers to settle their unresolved tax obligations by paying the disputed amount along with a specified percentage, while waiving any additional penalty or interest.

The Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has recently finalised two crucial contracts worth around ₹2,867 crore to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy’s submarines. These agreements were signed on December 30, 2024. The Ministry of Defence has signed a deal with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited for the manufacture of Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) plugs.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) achieved another historic feat on 30 December 2024 by successfully launching its ‘Space Docking Experiment’ (SpaDeX) mission through PSLV-C60 rocket from Sriharikota. Under the mission, two small satellites have been sent into space at an altitude of 470 km by PSLV-C60 rocket. The purpose of these satellites is to demonstrate the process of docking (joining) and undocking (separation) in space.
