India & UAE Commit to Deepening Defence

The 13th Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting was held in Abu Dhabi, July 2025. The JDCC is a key bilateral mechanism for enhancing defence cooperation between India and the UAE.
1. Strategic Defence Ties Strengthened
Both nations reaffirmed commitment to deepening defence and military cooperation Recognised the strategic nature of India-UAE relations amid regional and global security challenges.
2. Enhanced Military Engagement
Agreement to conduct more joint military exercises, particularly in maritime and air domains. Emphasis on exchange of expertise and training programs.
3. Defence Industry Collaboration
Discussed co-development and co-production of defence equipment. India invited UAE investments in its Defence Industrial Corridors (DICs) in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
4. Maritime Security Cooperation
Focus on securing sea lanes of communication (SLOCs) in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). Plans for joint naval drills and information sharing to counter piracy, terrorism, and smuggling.
5. Space and Cyber Defence
Agreement to explore cooperation in emerging domains like space security, cybersecurity, and Al in defence.
6. High-Level Visits & Dialogue Mechanisms
Commitment to institutionalize regular dialogues at ministerial and service chief levels. Push for enhanced cooperation under the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (2017).
